Not sure what to do that stale loaf of bread that has been sitting on your counter for a couple of days? Why not turn it into homemade breadcrumbs? It is very simple. Just take the pieces of bread, place them into a food processor, and process them until they look like *crumbs.* The best time to do this is usually around the second day it starts turning *stale.* When you are finished processing, store them in a plastic container in the fridge or freezer. I have used every single type of bread you can imagine for homemade bread crumbs...from left over hot dog buns to white bread to wheat bread.
Also, if a recipe calls for a specific type of *seasoned* bread crumb (Italian, for example), just add a couple of teaspoons of that specific seasoning to your homemade breadcrumbs and presto, you have Italian seasoned breadcrumbs at your fingertips.
This tip not only saves you a few dollars at the grocery store, but also helps to *recycle* old bread AND saves on time. :)
