I'm feeling the urge for another cookbook giveaway!!! What do y'all think? I'll get to that soon....in the mean time.....
Military Wives.....get togethers.....love em! The two go hand in hand. I went to one this week and had a blast. I decided to make these wonderful brownies (along with a few other dishes) to tote along with me. It was my first time making these scrumptious squares of ooey gooey goodness and the recipe definitely did not disappoint! There were some requests for the recipe so I am posting it on here :)
If you look closely, there is a layer peanut butter, rice crisipies, and chocolate chips...followed by a layer of marshmallows....all on top of a fudgey brownie square. In the words of Rachel Ray....yummmmmm-o!!! Ladies (and gentlemen), check your diets at the door when you make this recipe because it is that good! They are best at room temperature, however, refrigerating them won't harm anything either ;)
Brownie Mallow Bars
1 (18 oz.) package fudge brownie mix
1 (10.5 ounce) package miniature marshmallows or half a bag of big marshmallows (cut in half)
2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
1 cup peanut butter
1 tablespoon butter
1 1/2 cups crisp rice cereal
1 1/2 cups crisp rice cereal
Prepare brownie batter according to package directions for fudge-like brownies. Pour into greased 13-in. x 9-in. x 2-in. baking pan. Bake at 350 degrees F for 28-30 minutes. Top with marshmallows; bake 3 minutes longer (marshmallows will not be completely melted). Cool on a wire rack. Please, please, please make sure the brownies and marshmallows have cooled before proceeding with the next step in this recipe ;)
In a saucepan, combine the chocolate chips, peanut butter and butter. Cook and stir over low heat until smooth. Remove from the heat; stir in cereal. Spread over brownies. Refrigerate for 1-2 hours or until firm before cutting.

ReplyDeleteMy favorite fall recipes all include winter squash. I make mixed roasted vegetables with rosemary quite often and love it. Squash, parsnips, celeriac, potatoes, shallots and beets all get cut into large chunks and roasted. It's simple and delicious.
What a great blog; glad to have found you! My eight year stint as a Navy wife ended a year ago (terribly glad it did), but it sure did give me some valuable skills... :o)
ReplyDeleteMy favorite fall dishes involve apples, cinnamon, pork; I dunno, something about it smells like fall. :o)

Oh I love making pumpkin pie but not from the can. I roast the pumpkin and make it all from scratch. My husband and I are big cooks/bakers and the fall means the oven is back in business :)
ReplyDeleteA fav of mine is corn casserole...the sour cream is what makes it extra yummy! Thank you for entering me in the cook book giveaway! And God bless you and your family.
