This past Wednesday, Husband Man came home with some WONDERFUL news.
After 10 full years of living in Louisiana, the Air Force is FINALLY moving us over to New Mexico ;)
We are saying good-bye to the this highly humid state and hello to hopefully milder temperatures. I heard that it does snow over there...which will be a nice change because it only snows once or twice a year over here.
We will be saying hello to mountains and beautiful scenery and good-bye to swamps and alligators.
What I'm looking forward to the most though? The food!! I can't wait to experience the culinary culture in this part of the state :)
I had heard that baking may be an issue since part of the state will be at high-altitude level. However, this experience may just be an awesome addition to the blog ;)
Our years in Louisiana have treated us fairly well. We bought our first house (which we will pain-stakingly have to sell), both our children were born here, and we've made some great friends here (some who have moved, and some who are still here).
This place holds a lot of memories. I am quite sure I will cry our last day here. However, we are looking forward to the change of scenery and change of lifestyle ;)
Please bear with me in the next few months. For those who have PCS'd before, as you know, there is so much to do....selling our house, doing research on new schools, figuring out where we need to look for housing, etc. This is our first PCS in 10 years so we are a little 'rusty' on things...lol.
The magazine I write for here in this city gave me the option to keep my column when we move, so for those who read the column, it will still keep running.
Posts on here however, will be minimal at the most, but I promise you, I am still here ;)
Thank you for continuing to read this blog....
and here's to the wonderful journey we (as in you and I) will take together soon ;)

Congrats to you Libby! We lived at one base for 10 years too. Don't worry you'll do fine. The hardest part is the people :(
ReplyDeleteThank you Carey! I don't really have that many friends here at this base...however, the few I do have, I will miss ;( We are looking forward to a change of pace though ;)
DeleteLooks like Albuquerque. We love going to the mountains in New Mexico. Wonderful climate and a lot to do. Good luck and God bless you with your move.
ReplyDeleteYes, Susan, it is Albuquerque :) Thank you ;)
DeleteHow exciting for you! A change is a wonderful thing to look forward to. Sweet Blessings on ya'll!! I know that anticipation well and am thrilled for you.
ReplyDeleteThank you Marsha! :)
DeleteLibby congratulations! I look forward to your posts when you get settled in. Good luck and have a safe trip!
ReplyDeleteThank you Jean! :)
DeleteYaaay! Congrats on your soon to be new adventure!
ReplyDeleteMoving is a bit hard and sad sometimes, but a wonderful new chapter in life.
I lived in Chicago my whole life till 5 years ago.
Now I live in New Mexico too. :-)
I live in the southern part of the state.
The climate here was a major adjustment for me. I'm not complaining though, lovin' all the fun in the sun!
Wishing you luck and many happy times!
Thank you so much! Yes, I have heard the climate will be different...but I'm hoping for us it will be a good kind of different ;) I will be sad, but am looking forward to this new chapter in our life ;)
